The essentials of tourism in the Cevennes
Roman History
The most prestigious of our Roman monuments is the Pont du Gard. It was built to bring water to the baths and fountains of Nîmes. 48m high, it is one of the best-preserved vestiges in the world. It is visited by 1.5 million people every year!
Also not to be missed, the arenas of Nîmes are the best-preserved Roman amphitheater.
Around Anduze
Unique in Europe, the Bambouseraie is an exotic botanic garden classified among the most beautiful in France. On 15 hectares, it hosts many varieties of bamboos, as well as remarkable trees and plants. It is an indispensable visit to Cevennes tourism, which you will especially enjoy when it is hot.
The Cevennes Steam Train is another popular attraction close to the Mas Cauvy. This touristic train connects Anduze to Saint-Jean-du-Gard. The journey of 40min will allow you to admire the beauty of the Cevennes landscapes. Saint Jean du Gard holds a market on Tuesdays, it is, therefore, the best day of the week to visit it.
